Week 1 Over

Not a perfect week by any stretch nutrition wise, but still much better than my typical diet. I did three weight sessions and 3 cardio sessions. I'm pretty pleased with myself so far, but there is still much room for improvement if I want to get where I want to be at the end of these 16 weeks. No picture updates yet. I'm probably waiting until week 4. I feel lighter. I haven't weighed myself yet, so I can't say for sure. I'm going to try and make week 2 a better week. Here are my workout and diet results for week 1. I had a good start to week 2 today nutrition wise although I haven't done my workout yet and it's not looking like that's going to happen tonight.
Thanks for all the encouraging words from everyone. Keep up the good work.

That Was Depressing

Ok, I just enjoyed my final meal, some wings and 3 Goose Island beers. To be honest, it wasn't even that good. I'm really ready to go.
I also just took my beginning pictures, and, WOW, do I need this. I never realize how fat I really am until I look at pictures of myself without my shirt on. I think I carry my weight pretty well when I have a suit on so I trick myself into thinking I look ok. Time to buckle down. 3 Hours until January second and the start of my journey to six pack abs.

Man, I could use a tan too!!!

Start of a New Year

Ok, tomorrow is the day. I'll be having my last supper so to speak sometime this evening. I'm not yet sure exactly what it will be. I'm deciding between Donato's or Wings and Beer. It's a tough call.
I'm very excited to get this started. It's been so long since I felt like I was in really good shape.

I'll be posting my Week 1 pictures shortly, and will follow every four weeks with updates.

Wish me luck!!!

Bring on 2008

I've decided this year that i'm going to actually stick to my New Year's resolution and shed these unwanted pounds that keep creeping back to my mid section. I'm one of those people that am basically always on a diet, although I cheat most of the time. I yo-yo up and down. Over the past 3 years I've been everywhere from 200 down to 168. At a mere 5'8", 200 lb's is none too flattering. Right now I'm floating around 192 or so. I just turned 31 in August, and with the desk job I have it's difficult to keep the metabolism at the level it was 6 years ago.

About a week ago, I came across a website, http://mensworkoutguide.com, and this guy Arnel has a 16 week program that lays out a workout for you over 16 weeks. He gives you the exact excercises, how to perform them and how often. He gives recommendations for meals and the type of cardio you should do. I'm super excited about starting this program. I'm using this blog to keep myself motivated. I figure if other people are actually seeing my goals and measuring my progress with me I'll be more inclined to keep up with the program. Anyhow, it's 20 til twelve on the 16th of December. Only 15 days until I begin. I'll be doing some basic exercises between now and then, so I don't absolutely kill myself the first week, and want to quit before I really get into it.

Hopefully, I can motivate others to do the same thing as well. I'm trying to convince my wife to do this with me. We'll see.
